For those interested in history and culture there is the annual Pickering War weekend during October each year and the stately homes of Duncombe Park, Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall waiting to be explored. There is also a day out to be enjoyed in the historic city of York close by, with its famous minster, the National Railway Museum and its medieval architecture.
