The back door opens onto a delightful and very private rear garden, where you can relax in the sunshine, with a morning coffee, before heading off for the day. A short walk up the hill brings you to the castle ruins, whilst a gentle stroll down the hill brings you into the hustle and bustle of this popular town, with restaurants, quaint tea rooms, pubs, independent shops and a twice weekly market held in the main street. Pickering is known as the Gateway to the North York Moors National Park, with fabulous walking and cycling opportunities over the stunning moorland and quiet country lanes. A must is a nostalgic trip on the famous steam railway, that winds its way through wonderful scenery, from Pickering to Grosmont, or if you fancy trying your hand at trout fishing, it’s just a few minutes’ walk away. The seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough are just a forty minute drive away and nearby York is the ideal place for a day out, with its Viking Museum, National Railway Museum and Minster.
