Description
Having undergone a successful scheme of refurbishment this lovely, homely cottage offers all the home comforts whilst blending traditional styling with some modern and contemporary influences. Swyn y Gwynt is a great base for exploring this lovely area, as well as Bangor’s splendid pier which is close by and is perfectly placed for the universities too, and would suit couples, two friends or a small family. Downstairs offers a spacious sitting room with bay window and an open fire, a sofa bed offers some flexibility to the sleeping arrangements, and a well-appointed and equipped kitchen with dining area and patio doors is a great spot to enjoy a family breakfast. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, the main bedroom boasting sea views, both serviced by the family bathroom with a traditional style suite. Outside, accessed through the patio doors off the kitchen is a private, enclosed courtyard. An ideal place to sit and relax, enjoy the evening sun with a drink and an early supper, alfresco. This lovely cottage is ideally situated for exploring Snowdonia and Anglesey. Walking and cycle routes are close by, in fact the start of Lon Las Ogwen is a great one to start with, and the route follows a disused railway line from the port up into the mountains and the Penrhyn slate quarries above Bethesda and Zip World Velocity, the world’s fastest zip wire. Penrhyn Castle, a National Trust property, is just five minutes by car. The walled town of Caernarfon with its medieval castle is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and is the starting point for the spectacular Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway, a 25-mile-long narrow gauge railway that twists and turns its way through some of Snowdonia’s most wonderful scenery. Swyn y Gwynt is a great place to stay anytime of the year!
Bangor is a town on the North Wales coast with shops, bars and restaurants. Across the water, the castle and pier at Beaumaris make a lovely day out, or you can catch a boat to Puffin Island. The Anglesey Coastal Path has great scenery and beaches. Plas Newydd is on the island, while on the mainland further National Trust properties can be found including Penrhyn Castle and Bodnant Gardens. Snowdonia is a short drive way, with castles, beaches and other attractions on offer in this region. Bangor and the Menai Straits really do offer the best of both worlds!
