As you climb the winding road take in the stunning views towards the nearby coastal town of Buckie and the Moray Firth. Woodside Cottage will be your home for your holiday break. As you arrive at the whitewashed stone cottage, note Woody the Bear in the front garden, welcoming you to Woodside Cottage. The owner has lovingly restored the property, keeping much of the charm and character of this 100 year old Crofters Cottage, retaining a traditional red tin roof. Through the double front gate, there is ample parking for up to three vehicles. The enclosed garden has neat lawned areas, with fruit trees and seating, perfect for those warm sunny days, where you can sit and listen to the birds whilst you enjoy the lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Woodland walks can be accessed from immediately opposite the cottage. Or venture a few miles towards Fochabers to enjoy The Forestry Commission Winding Walks, which has miles of paths and bike tracks. As you enter the cottage from the front stable door, you will come straight into the well-equipped, bright kitchen diner, with a set table and seating for up to four people.There is an immaculate family shower room with a large modern corner shower and vanity unit.The two bedrooms at Woodside Cottage are stylishly decorated with splendid bed linen.Both the single and the double bedrooms have plenty of storage space, and both look out onto the garden.Spend your evening in the cosy sitting room, relaxing by the wood burning stove and TV, chatting about your day in this wonderful area of Morayshire, planning whatever pleasures await you tomorrow. In the garden at Woodside Cottage the Summerhouse, with comfortable seating for four is available for you to enjoy your afternoon tea or a glass of wine while you take in the views across the countryside towards the shores of Lossiemouth Bay, with its miles of golden sands. Look out for grazing deer, red squirrels, and an abundance of wildlife which are frequently seen around the area.Spend an evening in the summerhouse and you could see amazing golden sun sets, and may even be lucky enough to sight Aurora Borealis.So don't forget your binoculars! At the rear of the cottage there is a large lockable outbuilding for you to store bikes, canoes, hang wet suits or any other items you wish to store during your holiday. The property sits in the sleepy hamlet of Clochan with only a scattering of houses and a quaint community centre, set in the old stone built school. Note the nostalgic red telephone box, a relic of days gone by but an amazing photo opportunity, there is also a historic memorial to The Land Army Girls who worked these fields long ago. The popular town of Buckie is located nearby and offers a wealth of quality amenities including a small heritage museum, leisure centre, shops, cafes and petrol stations, as well as a working harbour, with local caught fresh fish shops. From Buckie harbour you will see many cottage seeped in history gable end to the sea. Wonder around these traditional fishermen's houses, taking in the history and atmosphere of the area. The glorious beach at Strathlene is nearby and is host to seals seen soaking up the sun on the rocks.The coast line has many other quaint fishing villages for you to discover. To name a few there is Findochity, with its beautiful harbour, Portknockie, with the Bow Fiddle Rock, Cullen, famous for Cullen Skink (a delicious Fish soup, made to a secret recipe, a must to try in one of the local cafes). Venture a little further to Sandend Village with its fabulous sandy beach, and breaker waves, ideal for a spot of wind surfing, and Portsoy famous for the annual Boat Festival and award winning ice cream shop. All are located within easy driving distance. Woodside Cottage is perfectly located for a wonderful relaxing break on the Moray Coast line, where beautiful countryside and the quaint nearby seaside villages await you.
Buckie overlooks Moray Firth on the northeast coast of Scotland. The town has shops and pubs and is an ideal base from which to explore the region. Boat trips are available here, offering the chance to see dolphins sea birds. Elgin offers fine buildings and an array of shops, pubs and things to do, whilst the Cairngorms National Park is within driving distance for you outdoor enthusiasts.
