For a break with a difference, how about a holiday in an award-winning landmark? The Tower is a converted water tower, decorated in the classic, utilitarian style of the 1930s but with modern luxury.
A unique property that the whole family will love, The Tower was built in 1934, its interior has been furnished and decorated in keeping with the date of construction; with subtle touches like floor lighting and underfloor heating throughout adding to the elegance and simple, clean features such as a large, plain white free-standing bath tub and white ceramic tiles.
Beautiful stairways (45 stairs in total!) lead you through the three-storey accommodation. Enter on ground level to the five-metre-high entrance hall and circular “Engineers room” study, a very stylish room to catch up on your emails. Upstairs on the first floor are the three stunning bedrooms, spacious and contemporary bathrooms; and finally the snug for when you want some quiet time to yourself. Another flight up to the top floor is the piece de resistance, with a show stopping open-plan sitting room, dining area and sleek kitchen. Here, the 12-meter-wide glass wall opens out onto a large balustraded terrace where you can enjoy breath-taking views across the River Crouch to Southend and the North Downs beyond. Little wonder the property deservedly received the Maldon’s Building Conservation Award.
This is a delightful area of the country, with undulating landscapes and the historic town of Maldon to enjoy and explore. What better way to experience it all than in your very own historic building? The holiday snaps are bound to be something special!
