Basil Cottage is a delightful little hideaway.
Basil Cottage is a delightful little hideaway. A real find! Small but perfectly formed, the cottage is ideal for a family, couple or a solo traveller, looking for a convenient base and good local facilities that can all be easily reached on foot.
A charming character cottage tucked quietly away behind a side road on the edge of the town, Basil Cottage is a real gem and a lovely place to stay at any time of the year. Centrally heated, this cosy property has been updated with a smart new kitchen and is comfortably furnished in an easy contemporary style. Spoilt for choice with two sitting rooms (both with televisions) and two bathrooms, one on each floor, upstairs there are two attractive bedrooms (a double and twin). Outside is a delightful landscaped garden with patio dining area and a pretty summer house inviting you to take a seat, relax with a drink of your choice and reflect on your day.
Take a short level walk from the cottage and you will find yourself on Staithe Street, the hub of this busy seaside town. Here you will find all kinds of independent shops - ranging from boutiques to butchers - and cafes galore. On picturesque Buttlands Green, surrounded by Georgian properties, take a seat to soak up the ambience or pop into one of the two hotels that overlook the green and enjoy a drink and meal with the locals. Wander down to the Quay and sample some of the best fish and chips in the area, or try your hand at crabbing. From here you are only a fifteen minute walk to the glorious beach, which will take your breath away with its beauty.
