Set on a quiet lane surrounded by glorious farmland, Merry Hill Barn is a spacious property that has been fully refurbished and furnished to a very high standard with underfloor heating throughout.
It’s not often you get the chance to stay in a movie location. Merry Hill Barn featured in the 2015 movie “Far From the Madding Crowd”, based on Thomas Hardy’s novel of the same name. It’s been completely refurbished since then, with lots of modern comforts and amenities, such as Bosch appliances in the kitchen and a 65” flat screen Freesat television in the sitting room. There’s still a sense of the original country dwelling though, with exposed stone walls and original beams, however Merry Hill Barn cleverly combines comfort, traditional features and modern style and with cosy underfloor heating throughout.
The barn conversion offers ‘upside-down’ living with three large bedrooms on the ground floor, and the sitting room and kitchen area reached via a beautiful oak staircase. The sitting room has a contemporary living flame wall-hung fire, and the kitchen boasts Minerva work tops as well as a large American fridge/freezer. There is seating for six guests at the dining table plus three bar stools for relaxed seating at the kitchen island. All the bathrooms have sensor lighting and fluffy Egyptian cotton bath sheets. The hallway downstairs has patio doors which open out onto the lawned garden, fully enclosed with a stone wall and five bar gate, and with the beautiful Dorset landscape beyond. Just across the fields are a pub, farm shop and café, and within easy reach are the pretty Dorset villages of Portesham, Abbotsbury and Langton Herring.
