Winacres Cottage is truly a hideaway where you can get away from it all and enjoy its idyllic location, well placed for donning walking boots and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside.
As a result of winning the land in a poker game at the turn of the 20th century, Winacres Cottage is aptly named. Extensively and thoughtfully rebuilt, the property has been tastefully and elegantly furnished throughout, to welcome you to a perfectly located Cotswold hideaway, positioned directly on the edge of National Trust's Minchinhampton Common.
Through the stable-style door is a beautifully redesigned open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room space with fully restored original features, including an exposed brick wall, wooden beams and even an antique equestrian saddle rack mounted on the wall. The comfortable and neutrally decorated sitting room opens up onto a quiet private outdoor patio and a west facing sun trap garden oasis with plenty of garden furniture for guests to enjoy. To the rear of the cottage you will find a calming and tranquil ground floor bedroom with the flexibility of a zip and link bed which can be configured as twin single beds or a 6' super-king size as required. This bedroom has the most beautiful and luxurious en-suite bathroom, complete with a free-standing bath, perfect for soaking muscles after long walks in the Cotswold countryside, along with a separate rainfall shower.
Upstairs is the show stopping master bedroom suite with a vaulted ceiling and feature gable end picture window, providing a breath-taking view of the Common to wake up to in the morning. Across your private landing is an equally impressive shower room with an enormous shower and more country views.
Winacres Cottage is truly a hideaway where guests can get away from it all and enjoy its idyllic location, well placed for donning walking boots and exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are plenty of well marked footpaths from the front door across Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons, with their famous golf course, free roaming cattle and delicious Winstone's Ice Cream.
A ten to fifteen minute stroll to the picturesque market town of Minchinhampton will bring you to the Crown pub; Henry's coffee shop; and The Kitchen for cakes! You will also find an array of independent shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and tourist attractions in the many nearby Cotswold towns, including Stroud (with its highly regarded Saturday farmers’ market), Cirencester, Tetbury, Bath and Cheltenham. The area is also well served by a wealth of National Trust properties and gardens and the much-loved Westonbirt Arboretum.
