A spectacular Grade II listed 17th Century farmhouse set within 500 acres of beautiful Suffolk parkland.
A spectacular Grade II listed 17th Century farmhouse set within 500 acres of beautiful Suffolk parkland. With no expense spared and an exceptional attention to detail, the Farmhouse sleeps up to 14 guests in 7 luxurious bedrooms and makes for the perfect holiday accommodation for friends, family and shooting parties alike. Formerly owned by the Pakenham/Lord Longford family in the 13th century, and the Greene family in the 19th century (who established the Greene King brewery in nearby Bury St Edmunds), the estate is comprised of extensive parkland and grassland, grazed by a beef suckler herd; around 100 acres of woodland, lake and ponds; and productive arable land growing a variety of crops.
Formerly one of five farmhouses which served the estate, the traditional and characterful features of the 17th Century farmhouse are complemented by the interiors designed and expertly executed by The Design Consultancy. Keen chefs will be delighted by the well-equipped kitchen featuring double ovens, an induction hob and two dishwashers. The wine rack and wine fridge will ensure you can perfectly pair wines with your evening feast, and the large American style fridge-freezer is ideal for storing lots of local produce (in addition to a large larder fridge and under counter freezer). Both the dining room and drawing room have oak floors taken from the estate woodland and boast garden and parkland views. When it comes to evening entertainment you are spoiled for choice. Guests can curl up in the snug and watch the 55 inch Smart television or head downstairs to immerse themselves in the complete cinema experience via the wall mounted 75 inch 4k Smart television in the cinema room. The snug also provides a sofa bed and benefits from a spacious wet room making it ideal for guests who require ground floor accommodation. There is a study area with a house safe just in case you need to catch up on some emails during your stay.
All four of the bedrooms on the first floor have been been furnished with Hypnos cashmere mattresses, luxurious goose feather and down bedding and a Smart television. Each room boasts an en-suite bathroom or shower room complete with underfloor heating and fluffy towels. There are a further three bedrooms and two bath/shower rooms on the second floor. It is worth noting that head space can be limited in some areas on the second floor.
It is possible to enjoy the gardens whatever the weather. The timber framed Retreat provides an undercover seating area with an open fire and links the main house to The Greenhouse. The Greenhouse was built on the site of the original green house and you can open the sliding doors to enjoy a light summer breeze or bask in the sunshine through the glass. The Greenhouse also boasts a walk-in shower/wet room with twin marble wash basins and curved shower area. Sunny days are best enjoyed on the Vinehouse patio with its oak pergola. There's no chance of getting bored at The Farmhouse - The Pit Stop is an activities room where guests can make use of the gym equipment or enjoy a game of table football, complete with a 50 inch Smart television and a drinks fridge.
The grounds of the Farmhouse and surrounding parkland have an abundance of wildlife. Wandering down to the lake and jetty, why not enjoy a leisurely row and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Suffolk countryside.
