Stylish Clementine Cottage forms part of a beautifully restored former dairy on an organic family farm.
Clementine has been transformed into a stylish holiday home, designed as a peaceful retreat for families including guests with disabilities. In total there are five cottages surrounding a pretty shared courtyard garden, which has been thoughtfully designed to provide peace and privacy for guests. The original farmyard and barn have been restored and there are often farm animals around for guests to pet or feed. From the courtyard there is a beautiful route out through farmland down to the riverbank situated in a Site of Nature Conservation Interest, perfect for a peaceful picnic and enjoyment of the beautiful landscape and wildlife. All of this is accessible via a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk.
Clementine has a generous open-plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen with rise and fall worktops and accessible cupboards and appliances. There is a comfortable sitting area with a wood burning stove and television, and also a dining area with table and chairs. The high ceilings with exposed trusses give a spacious feel to the beautifully designed interior. There are two bedrooms; a 6' super-king size master with en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath, and a separate twin bedroom with 3' profiling beds. The en-suite large accessible wet room has an overhead and adjustable shower, wash basin and WC with support rails.
Outside is a small terrace with garden table, bench and chairs overlooking the pretty courtyard garden. Clementine cottage forms part of Wraxall Yard. There are four further accessible cottages of Ladymeade, Kittwhistle, Lynchets, and Lookout that can be booked for groups of friends or family, and there is a large shared room and kitchen for lunchtime or evening gatherings which can be booked separately, subject to availability, if three or more of the cottages are booked together. Given the peaceful nature of the site, it is not designed for rowdy parties!
The village sits around a small chalk stream and features a Grade I listed building, St Mary’s Church. There is a long and rich history of farming in Lower Wraxall and archaeological evidence of mediaeval farms can still be seen today. The wider area has wonderful attractions, whatever your interests.
