Reviews

The decor, the location, the extras made our weekend so special The fresh flowers, chocolates and champagne were a lovely touch The comprehensive guide to the house, Hayfield and the surrounding area was great. The food at the Sportsman was well worth the steep walk Would recommend for families, hens, stags, anyone !! Thank you for a great weekend snd I’m sure we’ll return

Cottage was lovely and clean and the touches of presecco chocolates teas etc and of course the duck food was nice gestures however although the cottage was spot on we were so disappointed with village facilities. Monday and Tuesday it was like a ghost town nothing was open. The Royal Hotel was open but had no chef so there was no food being served...The George Hotel was closed for a refit apparently.....The Pack Horse didn't open until Wedsnesday....most of the shops were closed including the chippy but at least the village store was open.....if this is a regular thing it could be worth mentioning on booking. Think it would be useful if there was a map of the village supplied in the cottage and also a bus time table could be useful....at least you could visit surrounding areas if you have no car....This place is ideal if you are a walker or cyclist but for us it was disappointing......and to top it all it rained nearly ever day so couldn't sit outside next to the river which was one of the reasons why we booked it.......oh well better luck next time.

My family and I (8 adults) booked this remarkable and magical cottage for Christmas week 2019. We had the BEST time. The setting is stunning, the local pubs and shops are beautiful but what really made our stay was how the amazing owners had thought of everything to make our Christmas perfect. This cottage does not feel like a holiday home, it feels like home and we did not want to leave! If I could offer any advise... it would be... do not make our mistake and only book 1 week.... make sure you book at least 2! Thank you for our memorable Christmas!

Spent 4 nights in this amazing cottage in July 2019. The location next to the river Sett is perfect, giving the impression of being in the middle of nowhere and yet, all the things one needs within a 2 minute walk. Local shop, amazing pubs and restaurants. And stunning scenery. The cottage itself is spacious, yet very cosy. The small touches, such as milk and a bottle of cava left in the fridge add that personal touch and the communication from the owners gave the impression that I could make my self at home. One of the best properties I have visited, I would have no hesitation recommending to anyone. And I will be returning soon. Thank you to the owners for a much needed escape.
