Bryn y Mor is a delightful holiday house near Borth y Gest on the Llyn Peninsula. Not only does it have spectacular views and a glorious garden, but the house is bursting with happiness. Every room is full of interesting surprises - the rug in the sitting room, the tiny bathroom with room for a shower as well, the little library room, the tiles, the colours - we're gushing, but we really feel very privileged to have such a home in our portfolio. "With such dazzling seaviews, it's no wonder guests return time & again to this happy, seaside house." A path from the garden leads down to two beaches - Samson's Cove and Garreg Cnwc. The night sky in the winter must be fantastic, as there is little or no light pollution here. Bryn y Mor was even featured on the S4C programme 04Wal. All in all, a very charming holiday house in this pretty corner of North Wales.

Borth y Gest is a quiet Welsh seaside village of mainly Victorian houses retaining much charm and character. Located by the mouth of the River Glaslyn, and a short drive away from the Italian styled village of Portmeirion, this pretty Welsh village has stunning panoramic views over the sands and estuary to the historic Harlech Castle and the Snowdonia National Park beyond. This North Wales village has two bistros and a coffee lounge all located on the front overlooking the bay and all with dog-friendly outdoor seating areas; perfect places to while away the hours watching the comings and goings of the local boatmen. Borth y Gest, with its sheltered coves and sandy beaches, has walking in abundance; why not head up Moel-y-Gest or take a wander over the headland to the famous Black Rock Sands, or go a little further afield where the vast Snowdonia National Park awaits? For a day out you can take a trip on the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog, only a 15 minutes' walk away, or for those with younger children why not visit the shorter but more child-focussed Welsh Highland Heritage Railway? For a day trip the entire Llyn Peninsula calls. With Anglesey within reach and the whole North Wales coast with the Wales Coast Path to be explored, Borth y Gest has it all: a quiet bolt hole but conveniently located for ease of access to this stunning area, a must at any time of the year.
This property has stunning views and there is a lovely coastal path to the beach and on into Borth y Gest. It is a rambling old house filled with seside paraphernalia (a little overdone!) The place is comfortable. So why only a three rating. On holiday is not the time to learn how to use an aga!! The kitchen equipment was very basic. Saucepans needed lids that fitted. It took ages to cook anything in the aga and it was hopeless using the hot plates. The fridge freezer is really old and the draws are broken. There was no WiFi which at the price we payed to stay was outrageous. WiFi is a standard and basic piece of equipment today. The tv was useless with no digital channels. I wouldn't come again at the price we payed.
Light and airy property with great outlooks from every room. Fantastic walks from doorstep, several handy and good eating places nearby. Friendly local people and a grand garden to relax in. So why 2 stars? Some of the advertised amenities were not present or usable. The refrigerator door does not shut so is set to maximum resulting in constant working except when it overheats and ice on rear interior, even the lettuce froze. Some showers not usable, of the 5 televisions only the small wall mounted Kitchen and bedroom ones had dvd players, the bedroom one was uncontrollable and the kitchen one did would not recognise any form of disc. one tv was cathode ray tube with no possible connections. Both the other televisions were so old even the HDMI connectors no longer exist. The lounge one was advertised as having a CD player. This would have been integral so obviously DVD player but had been ripped off by the owner leaving an open and live aperture. Note to owner and Sykes Cottages: not inspected and potentially lethal to little fingers. The upshot was we took along a batch of newly bought DVDs and CDs to entertain ourselves in the evenings and were unable to watch any. The owner suggested we complain to Sykes, duly done but result was "owner not willing to supply a dvd player and will not offer refund". Complained to Sykes pointing out they took our money and they should refund. Looking at reviews of the company I should have saved my time, they have no conscience or ethics, no customer services and, I hope, no future.
