Reviews

Thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay at this property. Well equipped and beautifully maintained including a lovely welcome basket. The village of Church Fenton is well served and we had an excellent Sunday lunch at the local pub (White Horse) and a lovely take-away from the local Indian place (Sunar Bangla). The house is two minutes from the train station and we used this to take the train onto York - very handy.

Arrived at mallard Cottage on Friday the 7th of feb. for a 2night stay, This is not a cottage it is a house in a short terrace.I must say it is everything that a family would want.Really warm and comfortable very nicely decorated .This cottage is very well situated to the village that has 2 pubs both serving meals a community shop that is very well stocked and an Indian resteraunt that is right on the entrance to the railway station this being just a 5 minute walk from accomadation. As a base for visiting the area its probably one of the best , to York in 15 mins. its the main line to all points west.As a place to stay for us as a family of 3 adults and 2 children this was perfect, We would gladly return if ever we needed to be in that area again Would really recomend.

Having travelled extensively both abroad & in the uk we were extremely impressed with the standard of this beautiful cottage. We were impressed with size as it was much bigger than expected & extremely well equipped the owner has literally thought of everything including those travelling with families there are stair gates, high chairs , bed guards etc all available & also a lovely welcome pack meaning we could make a cuppa on arrival which was a lovely touch The location of this cottage is ideal it’s only a couple of minutes to railway station taking you into Leeds/York & beyond there’s also a fabulous Indian restaurant inside the station we would highly recommend we had a takeaway on the second night & it was lovely. If you venture further into the village there’s a really nice community shop selling lots of local produce we grabbed a few bits & they were all really tasty. Theres also a newly refurbished pub the white horse we only drank there but the food coming out looked really nice & the bar menu was very extensive definitely worth a visit. If you don’t mind a drive there’s loads to do in the area we visited Lotherton hall which was very reasonably priced & would highly recommend the orangery cafe at Lumby hall especially if you have small children there is a great indoor play area. Overall we would highly recommend this place is a hidden gem & we will definitely be returning.
