Tucked away in the village of St Hilary, in the Mounts Bay area, is this idyllic 18th century cottage. Less than 2 miles from the coast and close to the popular resort of Marazion, The Thatched Cottage makes an excellent base for families or group of friends. Boasting traditional features, including exposed beams and granite hearth, this charming cottage invites you inside into the cosy sitting room, where you can rest on the plush sofas after a walk in the countryside. The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen overlooking the courtyard and surrounding fields, where you can prepare hearty meals to serve in the dining room. To the other side of the living room, you can access the spacious utility room featuring a walk-in shower, a separate WC, and from the utility room you reach the family bathroom. Upstairs, The Thatched Cottage offers three well-presented bedrooms with lovely views of the leafy front garden: a twin, and a single which leads through to the double. Enjoy a lawned garden to the front of the property, with an alternative courtyard to the rear. You are spoilt for choice with an abundance of footpaths and bridleways on your doorstep, or you can head to the coastline for superb sandy beaches and the coastal path. Goldsithney’s local shop and pubs are just a short walk away, whilst Marazion is within easy reach with a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and St Michael’s Mount. Further afield, you have the popular resorts of Penzance and St Ives. The Thatched Cottage is a delightful cottage in a picturesque part of Cornwall.
The former mining village of St. Hilary is situated at the heart of the Mounts Bay area at the very foot of Cornwall, 3 miles from the sandy beach at Marazion, with its instantly recognisable landmark St Michael's Mount. An ideal base for a family or walking holiday, it has easy access to coastal and moorland walks on both the Land's End and the Lizard peninsulas, and St Ives Bay on the north coast as well. The village has an historic church, while the nearby village of Goldsithney has a pub serving good food and a village shop. 3 miles away the market town of Marazion has many eating establishments, pubs and shops and a sandy beach, as well as the famous medieval St Michael's Mount - at low tide visitors can walk the same path taken by the pilgrims in the Middle Ages. Penzance is just a 6 mile drive where helicopters fly you to the Scilly Isles on day trips. Within a short distance you can discover St. Ives, Land’s End, gardens and castles galore, the famous Eden Project and of course the breathtaking coast of Cornwall. A wonderful base for the perfect holiday.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.
We stayed here for a week at the end of May 2023. As a family of 5, suitable locations can be difficult to find, but this little gem was ideal. There is a little lane at the side of the cottage for parking (narrow, but we fit a Discovery Sport down there), it is a public footpath, so you are warned you may be asked to move the car for access, but we didn’t need to. All rooms and beds are comfortable and the front garden is lovely and fully enclosed, allowing us to relax in the evening sunshine (no back garden, but this is not a problem). The ceilings are low in the original part of the cottage (there have been a couple of extensions to modernise), but to be expected given its age and was no problem for my 6ft tall husband! Only issue was no Wi-Fi, which can be a blessing, but was a bit of a pain when getting our eldest to revise for exams when school post everything online…but we got through it. All in all, this was a lovely little cottage in a great location for visiting south Cornwall. We would definitely go back and highly recommend!
