Walk through to the second reception room with sofa bed (which can be made up on request) ideal for quiet reading time, then through to the utility area, housing a dishwasher and washing machine, so you barely have to lift a finger during your trip. The adjacent kitchen/diner provides all the modern appliances you could need to cook up a storm for the whole family, whilst the dining area is the perfect spot for family gatherings. Whitby beach is also popular with the locals and tourists, perfect for spending the afternoon relaxing on the soft sands, or swimming in the clear waters. My wife booked this cottage as a holiday surprise for us on 4th January 2024 for the dates 13th-27th September. I must add that my wife is severely sight impaired and had just had a partial amputation on her foot so is extremely unsteady and has difficult walking. She paid the £30.00 deposit with the balance of the deposit to be paid at end of Feb. When we saw that it was about half a mile from the town centre we realised that it would not be suitable for her. we contacted Sykes and they came back to us stating that it was in the centre. We suggested it could be made more clearer and asked if they could ask the owners of the property if we cancel could we not pay the balance of the deposit of £420 as there was plenty of time to let the property and it was not read by my wife regarding the terms as she couldn't read them. Sykes would not budge and also said the owners want the full deposit. I cancelled the holiday and asked Sykes what date at the end of Feb would the balance of the holiday be taken . They replied they had already taken it . Although the cottage looks lovely , Sykes service was absolutely terrible and the owners seem only interested in money as they have our £450 plus payment from another booking We used to book with Sykes but never again.
