Ardara was nominated as one of the 'best villages to live in' in 2012, in Donegal, resting within the valley where the Owentocher River enters Loughros More Bay. Within the town you will find a selection of shops and a choice of traditional Irish pubs. Attractions within the area includes walking the Glengesh Pass with views over the Atlantic from Loughros Point.
The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.
This cottage is in a beautiful location with many lovely beaches within easy reach. It is equipped with everything we could possibly need, and there is ample parking and a green lawn for games. The hosts were friendly and did all they could to make us feel welcome and advise us on sights we might enjoy. The TV had every station we could want with good reception. I would recommend the cottage to families, friends, artists, photographers or anyone who wants to enjoy nature.
What a wonderful week we had at Joe's Cottage. The hosts were really welcoming and gave us great tips on what to see. The view from the garden was just beautiful and changed as the day progressed. The house had great facilities and outside space to eat breakfast lunch and tea. The location was brilliant. Within 20 miles we walked on deserted beaches, took a boat trip under the highest sea cliffs in Europe, visited caves, waterfalls, dolmens , and spent time in lovely Ardara. I would recommend this house as the perfect space to chill and enjoy Donegal at its best.
