Reviews

We stayed at this cottage in mid August and paid just over £3,000 for one week. We were 4 adults and 5 children. The cottage looked lovely in the photos but it had a number of important basic things that really let it down: 1. The advertised wifi was only a mobile hotspot. This was woefully inadequate for 9 of us browsing ideas for days out, booking restaurants, checking the weather and of course the kids “trying” to game. One of our party needed to make a video call with his Dr. He was the only person in the property at the time but the “wifi” was so bad he had to resort to a phone call outside of the property. To make matters worse, the mobile signal was very patchy at best due to being at the bottom of a hill and under the railway viaduct. We fed this back to the owner via the agent. The owner’s response was it worked fine. Well for just “one” person the wifi may have been passable. 2. The hot water tank only provided showers for half of us each day. There was no instruction on how to obtain more hot water (despite instructions for every other appliance). We noticed on the agent website after visiting that 2 other people had complained about this same thing. Each time the owner’s response was "we have now provided clearer instructions on how to switch on the water heating booster to help future guests". Odd that they were again missing during our stay! 3. The overall cleanliness of the house was disappointing. The house wasn’t dirty as such but it just felt that it needed a good deep clean. The edges of the rooms were dusty,/dirty and there was large cobwebs hanging from the lounge ceiling and the house had a slightly damp smell. The bathroom downstairs had an unpleasant odour so no-one wanted to use it. 4. To add insult to injury, we only really got 6 days for our 3k as we could not check in until 5.30 pm and then had to leave by 9am (not at 10 am as stated in the booking details). On the positive side, it was in a quiet location despite being under the railway viaduct. There was a private gate at the bottom of the road which was a short cut into the city centre which was a real bonus. I have stayed in many holiday properties in Cornwall and around the UK and can say this was the most overpriced for the facilities provided. Very disappointed to have paid this much for the standard of property and very upset that the owner did not take on board why we were so disappointed with the cost versus facilities provided.
