Lancaster House was a great place to stay as it was a very comfortable house and a great location for exploring both Sandown and the rest of island and 3 generations of the family thoroughly enjoyed it!
We had a lovely stay at Lancaster House. The house is wonderful. Although we had a slight problem at the beginning where the bathrooms and kitchen were not as clean as we would have expected, Steve contacted us straight away to apologise and deal with the situation to avoid it happening again. The location is perfect, only a few minutes walk to Sandown beach, with a few flights of stairs but this was fine even with two young children. There’s a small Sainsbury’s and co-op within a minutes walk which was also handy. The council car park near the property is very close and sometimes we managed to get a space outside the property overnight. The WiFi was quite slow but it looks like the island is being updated for that. We would definitely stay again although prices seem high now presumably due to covid.
Lancaster House is an impressive holiday home with every comfort considered, the property is spacious, with lots of interesting features and thoughtful decor and home furnishings. Parking was never an issue for us and we loved being so very close to the esplanade/beach and local highstreet including Sainsurys and Co-op. We toured pretty much the whole of the island whilst staying and nowhere we visited disappointed, we had some excellent meals out too. If you are lookimg for a comfortable, homely, well equipped place to stay in a super location then you will have found it with Lancaster House. Excellent communications from the owners too!
Lovely property situated perfectly to explore the island. Also has some history to the place which adds a bit of magic too. Beach and walk to shanklin within doorstep range and plenty of coffee shops for a portable drink on route. A relaxing week made all the more special for having a welcoming property to end your day at.
Fabulous house, plenty large enough for 6 adults. It has been sympathetically restored and beautifully decorated, is warm, light, and has everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Easy access to the beach (2minute walk) and by car to the rest of the island and all it has to offer. Parking (we took 2 cars) was never an issue
We had the pleasure of staying here for three nights over New Year with two other couples. The house comfortably accommodates six people and is well decorated throughout. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to self-cater, but I would recommend at least one meal out to “The Bandstand,” which is a great restaurant within walking distance. The house is very well located being only a stones throw to the beach, Sandown pier and local shops. Even though we went out of season we still found plenty to do on the island, including a visit to Osbourne House and donkey sanctuary, plus coastal walks. Can not recommend highly enough, we will definitely be back!
Great location! It's just off the high-street but still quiet. The beach is very close too. The rooms are spacious but the house is still cosy and has been renovated to a very high standard. The area is well-served by public transport, with buses in the high-street and Sandown station a short walk away. There are numerous pubs and restaurants to visit nearby, The Bandstand being a favourite of ours. This is the third time we've stayed here and will certainly be returning soon.
This is the 5th time we have stayed here. The property has been beautifully restored and is ideally situated for access both to the town and to the fantastic sandy beach. We love going to the Isle of Wight as it is so relaxing and we can totally switch off from the hubbub of everyday life.
