Sheringham is a seaside town situated in Norfolk and is located 4.8 miles away from Cromer. It was once a small fishing village, but since the arrival of the railways in 1887 it has grown into a popular tourist destination. Here, you will find a Blue Flag beach with golden sands and rock pool, and opportunities to walk the East or West promenades. Other attractions include a model boating lake, independent shops, tea rooms and seaside gardens.
Megan Cottage: What a delightful cottage to spend a week in, on our first visit to Norfolk! Our first impression on opening the front door was that it was far more spacious than we were expecting, with quite a large extension at the back. We stayed there for the Easter week, and the owner had thoughtfully added some little Easter touches around the house – and had even left a bottle of wine for us in the fridge! She also took the trouble to briefly call by in case we had any settling-in problems, but everything was fine for us. All the equipment and gadgets in the house were easy to operate and well-positioned for our comfort. There were plenty of books and information brochures about local places and restaurants. It’s just a five-minute stroll down to the beach and the shops, and there is a supermarket ten minutes’ walk in the other direction. Megan Cottage is a very good base for exploring Sheringham (Coastal path, Beeston Bump, North Norfolk Railway station, Museum, Old Priory Gardens, etc) and the surrounding areas (National Trust properties, the Broads, etc). It is possible for one smallish car to park off the road in front of the house; otherwise, you will have to find on-road parking nearby or use the public car park five minutes’ walk away, which might be a minor inconvenience if the weather is bad. We thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage.
