Throughout the summer, Ulverston has a variety of festivals, from a flag-raising and walking festival to an art and music festival, and in late November, the town hosts the world-famous Dickensian Christmas celebration. It is the site of the largest foam pie fight in the world and the birthplace of comedy legend Stan Laurel. Fantastic hikes in scenic scenery with views of Morecambe Bay and the southern Lake District can be found all around the city.
