There are also many National Trust and other historic properties and gardens to enjoy near at hand including the 400 year old farmhouse at Townend, Holehird Gardens (the home of the Lakeland Horticultural Society) and the beautifully restored Arts and Crafts house, Blackwell For touring by car, you'll find Windermere a great place to start.
