This beautiful two-bedroom holiday home, spread over two floors, has been formed from the original writing room of a Victorian, mid-19th century Gentleman's residence called Sawrey Knotts. It is one of six apartments in this impressive building, which retains the feel and atmosphere of a traditional country house. The property boasts three acres of shared grounds and stunning views to the southern and western fells. Ideal for a family or two couples. Walk into the large and impressive panelled hallway and find your holiday home on the left. As you enter the hallway you will see a modern family bathroom with shower. Step into your main living room to find an elegant and welcoming space with comfortable leather seating traditional open fire and gorgeous large bay window. Discover your neat, stylish kitchen and dining area and anticipate lovely meals in this appealing space. Take two steps up to your double bedroom with en-suite jacuzzi bath. Walk downstairs to find a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms are bright and spacious. You will also find a separate laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers at the back of the property. Walk a mile to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's fascinating home and museum. Have a bite to eat at the well-loved Cuckoo Brow Inn. Wander down to Lake Windermere’s quiet western shore and take the ferry to Bowness to enjoy a scenic cruise. Drive to Hawkshead to explore the historic and beautiful, grade 1 listed village church before visiting Wordsworth’s old school. After that, relax with a drink in one of village’s excellent cafes or pubs. From your doorstep, you will have the choice of many superb paths and trails around the local area, as well as being in striking distance of some of the best hill walks in the National Park.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
