We had a wonderful week staying at Serenity Lodge in Wemyss Bay. The lodge itself was tastefully furnished, beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. With WiFi throughout, Sky tv and a tv in each of the three bedrooms, together with a good selection of books, games and dvds, there was plenty to do when the weather was poor. The lodge has stunning views, and when the weather was fine we loved sitting out on the furnished deck to eat breakfast and to unwind on the deck with a glass of wine in the evenings while admiring the beautiful scenery. The owners have thought of everything a holidaymaker may need, and there is even a telescope and binoculars to enable guests to admire the lovely sea views in more detail. The communication with the hosts was excellent and we were greeted with a ‘welcome hamper’ of goodies on arrival which was a lovely touch, and there were toiletries, bathrobes and slippers for each guest. The lodge has excellent transport links, being walking distance to the train station and Rothesay ferry terminal, and there is a bus stop directly outside the park from which there is a good service of buses to Largs and Glasgow. We had a car, and used the lodge as a base from which to explore, and we visited Glasgow, Largs, Millport, Troon, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness among other places. The week just flew by, and we ran out of time to do everything we had planned, so we definitely hope to return to Serenity Lodge again next year.
