Reviews

While the cottage itself is comfortable and well appointed it is actually nowhere near the map position given by the owner. It is cosily sandwiched 25 yards from the A6 and 250 yards from the M6 at the southern end of Hackthorpe village. You can enjoy the trucks hammering past from the main bedroom. In May 2021 there was also a massive building site right opposite the house on the A6 side which clearly will not be completed until mid 2022. We thought the location description was dishonest and left a week early and the owners refunded our rental and made a compensation payment. If you don’t mind traffic noise and will be out all day then you’ll be fine, but this is certainly not a peaceful rural idyll

Location - just outside the national park (by metres) and a great staging post to explore the area. Comfort - really well appointed with 3 large bedrooms and all the facilities you need, including a comforting wood burner. Nearby - pub (Covid issue for now) and great walks. Dogs - really dog friendly with a secure garden. Ambience - perfect. Motorway and A road nearby so easy access and background noise does not impinge on the cottage and in garden you soon forget it.
