Accommodation Details

One bedroom: 1 x king-size double, with en-suite shower room (double shower, basin WC) plus freestanding bath. Open plan kitchen with dining area. Sitting room with wood burning stove.

On Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula and in rural lanes a little more than a mile from the traditional Cornish fishing village of Porthallow and two miles from St Keverne is The Roost, a single storey barn conversion, one of four on the same site. Enjoying long panoramic views across open countryside to the sea and coastal waters of Falmouth Bay from the smart slate terrace this cottage has been lovingly refurbished by the Owners to create a brilliant romantic retreat in a beautiful part of Cornwall. With all the modern comforts and stylish interior this is a perfect choice for couples seeking a peaceful refuge to unwind and relax. Inside the stone built barn is a large open plan sitting room with dining area and sleek kitchen all under a lofty beamed ceiling providing a brilliant sense of space. Curl up on the reclining sofas with a good book in front of the warming woodburner stove. There is one beautiful bedroom with king size bed, door to terrace and a huge free standing bath plus a smart ensuite shower room. Outside relax in the shared garden with a good book or indulge in your favourite tipple whilst marvelling at the Cornish sunsets. Positioned just a couple of miles from some of the prettiest fishing villages Cornwall offers, this a perfect base for exploring. Visit nearby Roskilly’s where you can wander through the meadows and ponds, meet the animals and sample the famous ice cream. Follow the South West Coast Path through the picturesque Cornish fishing villages of Porthallow and Porthoustock and enjoy the beautiful coastal views across Falmouth Bay to St. Anthony's Head. Explore the magical creeks of the Helford passage where at St Anthony-in-Meneage you can hire boats, or indulge in a little wild river swimming. Enjoy a pub lunch at Coverack with its little harbour and beautiful beach at low tide, you may even spot a Dolphin or two from here. A stay on the Lizard Peninsula wouldn’t be complete without visiting the breathtaking Kynance Cove with it’s white sands and azure seas. For those seeking to explore this beautiful untouched part of Cornwall, The Roost will make a perfect choice.

The village of Manaccan on the South Helford is small and friendly, with an excellent restaurant, friendly village inn and a beautiful 12th century church. The South Helford is arguably one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Cornwall. With meandering country roads, picturesque creeks, tidal inlets and pretty waterside villages, the area can be summed up in three words: tranquil, charming and timeless. The perfect spot for enjoying outdoor living, the South Helford’s sheltered coves were made for messing around on the water and strolling leisurely along the banks. Leave your ‘phone behind and embrace the simple pleasures - while away time paddling in the shallows, explore hidden coves with a hire boat from St Anthony, and stroll through woodland to enjoy a picnic on the beach.

Reviews

The Roost is a beautifully presented cottage with everything you could need for your stay. Outside is a patio and large lawned area, great for playing games with views of a stunning wild flower meadow and beyond that the sea. We stayed at the beginning of the summer holidays, but the area was quiet in stark contrast to other areas we visited. Porthallow is a charming small fishing village and a pleasent 30 minute walk down sleepy lanes from the cottage. Alan and Amanda were lovely hosts made us feel welcome with fresh scones and huge bunch of sweet peas from the garden. Thank you!
