Set on a quiet cul-de-sac in the peaceful village of Boldron near Barnard Castle fronting village green is Stable Cottage, a delightful Grade II listed, semi-detached barn conversion, ideal for two couples or a family wanting to explore the countryside of Teesdale, the North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales, all of which are within easy reach. Enter the property to discover a welcoming sitting room with a choice of a sofa or two armchairs to relax on at the end of a busy day of exploring, here you can make plans for the days ahead, curl up with a good book or switch on the TV and enjoy a family film night. Use the well-equipped kitchen to prepare delicious meals for your loved ones using the double oven/grill provided, and enjoy it around the dining table in the spacious dining area whilst talking over your plans for you holiday. Take advantage of the washer/dryer to clean any items that may have gotten muddied on a long walk. From here, access the lawned garden with its far reaching views across the dales, and end your day with a relaxing dip in the large hot tub, soaking up your quaint surroundings. As the evening draws to a close, make your way to the first floor to catch up on rest in the master bedroom, complete with a double bed plus a wardrobe and chest of drawers where you can store your belongings, while the twin room is ideal for both adults and children. Prepare for each day in the family bathroom, which boasts a corner bath and shower over, so you can choose whether to take a quick rinse or a relaxing soak, before heading into the garden with a morning coffee while your four-legged friends stretch their legs. Opposite the cottage is the village community pub, The Pinfold Club, housed in a converted former chapel, with picnic benches which holds regular social events where visitors would always be welcome and where you can enjoy a drink in the friendly atmosphere, the first drink is on the house for guests staying at Stable Cottage too! The cottage sits just a mile away from the Teesdale and Pennine way, perfect for when you want to strap on your hiking boots and get in them steps. The historic town of Barnard Castle is a short drive away, with its ancient cobbled market place lined with Georgian and Victorian architecture, as well as a host of antique shops, independent craft and gift stores, cafés, pubs, restaurants, a supermarket for all your essentials and a monthly farmers' market in Market Place, where you can pick up fresh produce, also available in many of the local shops, for a wonderful home-cooked meal. The town boasts a wealth of historic attractions, including its impressive castle ruins, an English Heritage Site that stands in an imposing position on a high rock, overlooking the River Tees. The Bowes Museum is a nationally renowned attraction, housed in an incredible 19th century French chateau-inspired building, surrounded by picturesque landscaped gardens. Walkers can enjoy exploring Teesdale and local beauty spots like Low Force and High Force waterfalls, as well as Egglestone Abbey and nearby Raby Castle, while the Deepdale Nature Reserve is great for wildlife lovers. Travel further afield to the North Pennines AONB and the Yorkshire Dales National Park to discover a plethora of fantastic walking and cycling opportunities, surrounded by peaceful countryside.
The market town of Barnard Castle stands on the site of an ancient Roman fort and boasts medieval castle ruins that tower over the river.
