Owls Nook Lodge, Windermere

We recently stayed here, 28th June. Was meant to be 7 nights. We had to leave after 3 nights because of the standard of living facilities. On arrival there was a dog blanket on sofa, I removed it and other 2. Put them in bunk bed room. In morning that room stunk. I then thought bet it's those blankets, they stunk so I removed them. My twin girls who slept in that room kept saying it was stinking and I was like I've removed covers. The 2nd night girls refused to sleep in room, so fast forward to 3rd night. We swapped rooms with girls, happy to take a bunk. My partner went to get pyjamas on and shouted on me, she had pulled bed sheet and matress protector back and said smell matress. It was disgusting, like urine, poo, vomit. Horrible. The top bunk was stinking as well, my partner slept on sofa. I had to share a bed with my son. I messaged Sykes that night. In morning I called office. They said give us a chance to fix it and look at it. They came late that day, brand new matrsses, duvets etc. But the damage was done with my girls refusing to go back to lodge each of the days we had been there. The last straw came when the old matress was removed had a big brown poo like stain, stinking. We packed and drove home to Scotland. There were other issues with lodge which I was prepared to let go as on holiday. But it's not fit to live in, mold on windows, mold in cupboard beside Christmas tree. Drawers that filthy clothes stayed in case. Half eaten sweets, cobwebs, filthy sofa. Overall lodge needs a good scrub. I have since had a full refund of my money. But just leaving a genuine review as wouldn't like someone else to have this spoil their summer holiday. Such a shame as I love the Lakes.
