Reviews

We were unlucky enough to stay here while attending a family wedding at a venue close by. My mother booked it for 16 of us, 8 adults and 8 children at a cost of £1600 for 2 nights. For this we were expecting a clean place to stay and enjoy together. Let me begin by explaining just how dirty the house was, if it was a pub I would not order food there. There was fly tape in the kitchen that had been there for a long time literally covered in flies and the kitchen was filled with them. The worktops were sticky and dirty as were the floors and literally everything else. We had to scrub the kitchen before we could even make a cup of tea, the kettle was also full of flies. Now I expect some flies given the location but this was next level and was massively reduced once we cleaned. There were stains on the sheets and the crockery and cutlery had to be washed and bleached and then put through the dishwater. Now I will get onto the highlight! When we went to bath the baby the water came out of the tap yellow with black bits, the water in the kitchen was also yellow. When an owner came by I raised these issues and he did not seem bothered, merely said he wasn’t aware and that we were going home in less than two days. So, we were meant to go to the wedding unwashed? We went to the local shops and bought bottled water for our needs (we were not reimbursed) If you go with children, the area outside is not theirs for play, the owner told the children to keep to their part (very small area) . While outside there was a manhole not covered correctly that one of the children almost had a severe accident with. An adult was alongside him and swiftly grabbed him avoiding a very serious accident. The owners responded and a couple of weeks later reimbursed us £300 and compared prices to local hostels and hotels. Considering we didn’t even have drinking water this is an insult really and not a fair comparison. If we could have got into one of these though we would have but they were full. Staying here was awful.

We booked Riechip for a family reunion. It was reasonably priced compared to other similar sized properties and having looked at the pictures I was expecting it to be quite basic. However, it fell well short of what would be acceptable for holiday accommodation. When we arrived we were told that there was a major issue with the water supply. This meant that we had some water downstairs and 1 working toilet (for 16) but no water upstairs, no showers and no hot water. The owner had been aware of the problem for 24 hours but had made no attempt to contact us. As it was a saturday they were not able to get a plumber out until monday to fix the issue so we had 48hrs without washing facillities and only 1 working toilet. When the water did come back on it was so discoloured in the bathroom it left brown staining on the bath. We only decided to stay as many of our family had travelled a long distance to get there. After our holiday I wrote an email to complain about the issues. I received no reply. It was only after repeated phonecalls to Sykes that I was able to get 20% of the booking cost back. The owner did not respond to the complaint. Sykes's attitude towards complaints seems to be lets ignore it and hope the customer gives up. I understand issues happen with properties but I feel the owner of Riechip clearly does not care for his guests and is not interested in providing good, safe accomodation.

Riechip was very comfortable and exactly what we required, in a good location for all of the activities in the vicinity. The drying room was essential and well used, thekitchen was well stocked with utensils, cutlery & crockery. Beds were comfortable and most of the bedrooms were large. The living room was large with superb views over the valley.

The views from the property were spectacular. The house was big enough to accommodate the 16 people comfortably. The open fire was great and there was enough fire wood to last our stay. The kitchen was very well kitted out and made cooking easy. We had a great time!

What a lovely welcoming house, perfect for a large party. We had everything we needed with plenty of room for everyone. Had beautiful views. The owner and the farmer who looks after the house were most helpful. We had a wonderful weekend and we would highly recommend this property. We will definitely be back!

We all had a lovely family holiday weekend. The grandchildren (all 9 of them) had a great time in the house playing hide and seek and other such games - it was very spacious. As the weather was good, we had plenty of walks and the little ones loved to watch the sheep. One of my sons-in law looked after the fire and made the lounge very comfortable in the evenings. We explored the area and all in all a good time was had by all.

Where to start? The property is fabulous. It is spacious and excellently equipped. It is perfectly located to allow for that feeling of splendid isolation whilst also being a short drive to all the facilities in the nearby towns and villages. For all us city dwellers, Riechip offers a chance to relax in beautiful countryside and explore the surrounds at our leisure. Each morning, views from the windows took our breath away. Each night, the log fire and grand lounge area led to fantastically relaxed evenings. Will be back for more!!

The house was just what we wanted for a family holiday. There were lots of things to do for our grandchildren who range in age from 2 to 21. All in all a great week.

The location and views were excellent. Plenty of walks from the house and good fishing. The house was very spacious and had a very homely feel. Many a story shared in the dining room over a few glasses of wine. The open fire was fantastic and fuel provided was a bonus. We all had a great holiday, and it suited all ages from 30 to 86. We will definitely return.

House was spacious, and ideal for large family. The property has superb views, is well and comfortably furnished, and lacks for nothing in terms of crockery, utensils, and white goods.

The house was comfortable and homely and our group enjoyed the holiday. The area of Dunkeld was lovely. The men enjoyed their shooting days and were well looked after by the owner who arranged their days shoot.

We loved staying at the Riechip in Dunkeld! It was perfect for our group of 15 (adults and teens). We loved the big lounge (sitting room) and the large kitchen and dining room. Also, the property has amazing views and its own loch for fishing. We wished we had more time to stay and hope to visit again someday. Everyone in our party loved the house!
