Just a short drive from iconic St Ives, the seaside town of Carbis Bay is best-known for its beautiful stretch of pure white sand. With turquoise waters and sheltered conditions, the beach feels almost subtropical and is the perfect spot for a good old-fashioned day by the sea. The beach is also home to the Ocean Sports Centre, so if sunbathing is not really your thing, why not hire a kayak or SUP and get out on the water instead. Or why not treat yourself to a Spa day at the boutique hotel which overlooks the beach and has a fabulous terrace where cocktails can be enjoyed in the Cornish sunshine? Carbis Bay has a small range of local shops and restaurants as well as a fish & chip takeaway and railway branchline. The train journey from Carbis Bay into St Ives is perhaps one of the most beautiful in the country.

Carbis Bay, a popular tourist destination close to St. Ives, is renowned for its pristine white sand beach. The beach, with its turquoise seas and sheltered settings, is ideal for a traditional day at the sea. If lounging in the sun isn't your style, you can always rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) from the Ocean Sports Centre, located right on the beach. A day at the spa at the boutique hotel with a view of the beach and a great patio for cocktails in the Cornish sun is another option. In addition to a fish and chip takeout and a railway branchline, Carbis Bay is home to a selection of small, locally owned stores and eateries. Perhaps the most picturesque train ride in the country is the one from Carbis Bay to St. Ives.
We've just returned from Sea Glass.... what a stunning apartment, and the balcony is amazing (just a shame we weren't able to use it to its best advantage with the weather)....the apartment is in an ideal location for visiting the delights of Cornwall.... the Gannet Inn and La Casita both serve gorgeous food.... Just a couple of things that we noted that would make the apartment 100% perfect: * wardrobe in bedroom 2.... we were 4 adults and had to share 1 wardrobe in the main bedroom * bath sheets, not towels (bath towels are OK for children, but not really for adults) * summer duvet.... 13.5tog in summer is too warm!! (maybe provide an 'all seasons clip-together' duvet so guests can adapt as per personal preference) * light in the window next to corner sofa to create 'ambiance' * pegs - understand why there is no washing line, but when providing a maiden, where people will put this on the balcony to dry (given the dryer element of the 'washer-dryer' took forever, and not all clothes can be tumble dried), pegs are needed to keep clothes on the maiden on windier days * sachets of condiments (salt, pepper, sauces, oil etc) * hoover looked like it had never been emptied since new.... it was VERY compacted and took 2 of us 30mins to scrape out; obvious that the cleaners don't check this either.... These are NOT things that would stop us from staying again, infact, we'd love to stay again, but some inexpensive fixes for the owner to create 'the perfect holiday stay'!!
