Spent Christmas in 55 Corve St. cottage,Ludlow. Sadly the reality did not live up to the glowing description on the website . There was no heating on when we arrived after a 3 hour journey, which was not the most welcoming place we have stayed i at Christmas. Usually in holiday cottages these days one is delighted to find, perhaps, milk, tea and often a loaf and , at Christmas, if one is lucky, a bottle of wine to welcome the guests. Sadly there was nothing. There was no hand basin in the lavatory at the top of the 2nd flight of stairs; there was black mould around the shower and wash basin in the tiny shower room and there were no protectors on the pillowcases. We found this worrying bearing in mind that Covid is still very much with us. The sitting room was cluttered with a variety of odd ornaments and dusty artificial flowers. The notice board had out-of- date(2005 in one instance) recommendations and business card -again dust gatherers. Of course, the cottage was a very old one and limited in space. We accepted that but the general shabbiness and dust left much to be desired. Although there are 2 bedrooms and 2 double beds, the lavatory and the tiny shower would make it difficult for 4 people, and there was only a sofa for 2 and no other easy chairs.
