Settled in the charming seaside town of Whitby in North Yorkshire, is this delightful, terraced house, Captains Cottage. Set over three floors and sleeping up to six guests, Captains Cottage is an idyllic setting for a getaway to the seaside, surrounded by the scenic North York Moors National Park and within easy reach of Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough Castle. Be welcomed into the well-equipped kitchen, where you can look forward to conjuring up a delicious feast for your guests as they set the table and uncork a bottle of wine. After a hearty meal, head to the sitting room where you can fire up the electric fire, put your feet up and relax in front of your favourite film on the TV. Continue the evening out on the enclosed patio, where you can discuss plans for the days ahead over drinks. When sleep calls, retire to one of three tastefully decorated bedrooms, a double, a bunk and on the second floor, a twin, all perfect for catching your rest. Kick-start your day with a refreshing shower, before setting out for the day to explore. Take a leisurely stroll into the town centre, where you will find a host of activities available including, Whitby Whale Watching where you can take to the seas and spot the beautiful creatures, embark on the Dracula Experience, learn more about the local area at the Whitby Museum, or take the Whitby Cliff Lift down to the glorious beach, where you can spend a day soaking up the sun, building sandcastles or paddling the shores. Nearby is the quaint fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay, where you will find an informative museum as well the National Trust site of The Old Coastguard Station. Pack up the car or hop on the train and take a day trip to the resort town of Scarborough, where you can visit the medieval Scarborough Castle, enjoy a picnic in the lush Secret Garden or make memories at the Alpamare UK waterpark where you will find a wave pool and slides, as well as a spa with relaxing sauna and steam room. Lovely character cottage perfectly positioned to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the patio was secure for our two dogs. Although there was no dedicated space, street parking was available nearby. We had a great holiday and would definitely stay at Captains Cottage again.
I'm not sure where to start with this review,I have never seen anywhere like this property. It was not as per the photos,the parking involves parking where you can on a main road and walk to the property through a alleyway with broken glass and dog mess.The 'courtyard has a broken gate that doesn't lock and covered in weeds and cigarette butt's. This properties level of cleanliness indicates it hasn't had a proper clean in months.The floors/windows/sofas and chairs and bin were disgusting. Inside the kitchen cupboards was disgusting. The 'clean' towels had hairs on them. The boiler wasn't working and after phoning to report it we were told to turn it off,no light fittings at the top of landing. If this is how the basic cleaning is done I can't see door handles etc being done.After phoning and speaking to the owner and sending photos we were told the cleaners hadn't been yet and we had to wait for someone to come out hopefully the next day to look at the boiler.This conditions in this property wasn't a weeks worth of dirt as other reviews show.We were told to stay there or could lose our money but nothing was going to make us sleep in that property Not heard from the owner since the photos were sent and still waiting to hear from Skye cottages regarding our refund Please consider before booking this cottage,below is a small selection of the forty photos we took I would hate someone else to experience our first day after being excited for a much needed holiday
