Situated in the heart of the traditional country town of Alston is this superb, stone-built cottage, Mill Race House. This cottage has been thoughtfully furnished over three floors, ready for a well-earned countryside break, ideal for families, friends or a mix of both. Wander into the sitting room to discover a cosy arrangement of sofas with a flat-screen TV, whilst just behind rests a feature dining table set for 12 people, so all guests can gather together for a home-style meal. During the warmer months make use of the conservatory, complete with a large corner sofa so you can put your feet up while getting lost in a good book, or head into the games room to challenge your loved ones to a game of pool. The kitchen is well-appointed with several modern appliances set within a sleek choice of units and work surfaces, so you can whip up a hearty feast or enjoy a morning coffee at the stylish breakfast bar. The ground-floor also has a shower room, so guests can freshen up for the day ahead. Climbing upstairs there are three wonderfully furnished doubles, one with a large en-suite bathroom for extra privacy and another spacious bathroom down the hall. For those wishing to explore the area on two wheels, cyclists should take advantage of the Pennine Way which passes through the town and is also on the C2C Cycle Route. The surrounding North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offers plenty of breathtaking waterfalls and scenic fells, including the nearby Cross Fell which is the highest peak in the area and offers views of the Lake District National Park.
