Mintlaw 1.6 miles. This splendid cottage is set over a garage in the pretty village of Old Deer, in the county of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Ideal for a family getaway, Hayloft is a lovely base for uncovering all that Aberdeenshire has to offer, within easy reach of the port city of Aberdeen. The property is adjacent to the main owner’s home, and provides off-road parking directly outside. As you enter, there is a small utility, along with two sets of stairs leading to separate parts of the property. Follow the right-hand staircase to the open-plan living area, uplifted by natural lighting due to several velux windows, creating a delightful space for socialising, entertaining and cooking. At one end lies a sumptuous settee and TV, in the middle presents a dining table and at the other lies a fitted kitchen, providing all the necessities for home-cooking. When you’re getting sleepy, find the first bedroom off the main living area, offering twin beds, while the double bedroom can be found up its own small staircase, along with a shower room where you can prepare for the day. Just a mile away lies a Co-op Food where you can pick up any essentials, while a little further afield lies the The Crichie Inn, a popular pub serving a traditional menu and real ales. Head to the Aberdeenshire Farming Museum, where you can relive the story of Aberdeenshire’s colourful farming history, or stroll around Aden Country Park in Mintlaw, offering 230 acres of wonderful parkland with its own arboretum and the remains of a ruined mansion, providing scenic walks along the banks of the lake and through the towering woodland.
