Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
The location of the property was fantastic for the wedding venue some of my family were attending. On arrival, the cottage was not welcoming. Windows and doors dirty and paint flaking. Weeds covering the front step. No on street parking as resident disc zone and no disc available, but there was parking for 2 cars blocking each other in as its a shared drive with the neighbour. There is also a large but very busy carpark at the end of the road, for other cars to park. This is pay and display, so it will add to the cost of your holiday if you need to use it. There are notes dotted about the cottage, with requests on. These could have been a little more polite in how they were worded and possibly typed. The first one through the door on arrival states about the shared drive, just written and stuck to the wall, l doesn't even say hello and welcome. There was no welcome message or any communication from the owner. On our first night, one of our little guests received an electric shock off a plug that had no cover on it! While they retrieved something from behind the bed!. Medical assistance was sought, and the issue noted to the company we hired the cottage through. This took the owner 3 days to sort! The owner never contacted us to apologise or see if the ìnjured party was ok from the health and safety issue caused by their equipment, at their premises. I love staying in The Lakes and would return to any of the other properties I've stayed at. I will not be returning here as it is definitely not value for money with the state of repair. We didn't stay for the full duration of the booking either. We all felt like we just couldn't stay there any longer, so we left after the mid week wedding was attended. The beds were not the best to sleep on either. If you are booking here, advise how you want the kingsize bed as states you need to request it to be twin but was actually set as twin! The area is stunning, though, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring here and will go back but just not to this cottage.
