Location Details

On the heavily forested banks of the River Tamar, the charming rural community of Gunnislake is located. Village bars and a number of shops are available. The village is notable for being at one end of the picturesque Tamar Valley Railway, which offers frequent services along the river's edge to Plymouth. Dartmoor, the beaches on the south and north coasts, and the attractions in western Cornwall are all easily accessible from the area. The Dartmoor town of Tavistock, with its pannier market, pubs, and restaurants, is close by, as is the well-liked fishing village of Calstock, known for its crafts and festivals. It takes only 10 minutes to get to the Donkey Sanctuary and Cotehele House and Gardens (NT). There is something for everyone, whether it be a round of golf at St Mellion (8 miles), a visit to the restored Victorian mining village at Morwellham Quay (4 miles), a walk along the Tamar Valley footpath to look for otters and deer, a trip to the National Trust-owned Lydford Gorge, or a trip to the beach and charming harbour at Looe (25 miles). Why you take the picturesque Tamar Valley Railway into Plymouth for something truly unique, then spend the day exploring Plymouth Hoe or the amazing Marine Aquarium?

Reviews

We were dissapointed with Tinners cottage . It was adequately equiped but lacked a good thorough clean . We were expecting some noise from the road but due to the cottage being by traffic lights the noise was worse than expected. This was also compounded by the fact that one of the bedroom windows was faulty and couldn't be closed properly. The beds were comfy and the bedding was clean . A big disappointment also was the outdoor space, the decking was neglected and overgrown and outside the back door was an unpleasant dumping area. Access via the back gate was blocked due to rubbish one day. We will not be returning to Tinners cottage and would not recommend it if you are looking for a restful holiday base.
