Settled in the heart of the picturesque Scottish Highlands rests the charming town of Grantown-on-Spey. Home to a fantastic collection of shops, bars and restaurants, Butterfly Cottage makes an excellent base for those looking to adventure through the surrounding countryside. There's an abundance of outdoor pursuits available nearby, including mountain biking, fishing and golfing, as well as walking and birdwatching.
We spent a week at Butterfly Cottage and it was a really delightful place to stay. The cottage looks lovely inside and out but it is also extremely comfortable. It was spotless, perfectly designed for guests to relax and had a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a shower cubicle, which is always my preference. There is an off road parking space specifically for the cottage and the wifi worked well. The owners were very welcoming, we particularly enjoyed the home made bread and jam provided, it was delicious. The cottage is in the grounds of the guest house which also looked good but we enjoy the freedom of self-catering. The cottage is only a few minutes walk from the local woods but is also only a few minutes walk from the main street in Grantown on Spey which had several places to eat, a nice High Street and an interesting museum. It was a great location to explore the surroundlng countryside which was beautiful. The weather was a little cold during our visit but the cottage was very cosy.
