One of Northumberland's largest towns, Ashington has a wide range of attractions and amenities. Authentic goods from small vendors can be found in bustling markets decorated with bunting, as can food stands serving regional fare. Visitors to Ashington Community Woodland and the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park will find themselves in awe of the natural beauty of the area. Woodhorn Museum, a former coal mine from the nineteenth century that now houses local art and artefacts, is a great place to learn about the town's farming and mining history. There is a romantic sculpture of a couple by Sean Henry in a beautiful bay in Ashington's neighbouring town of Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Beach, and golfers can play at the nearby Newbiggen Golf Club, which boasts stunning views of the coast.
