Location Details

Doonbeg (little fort) is a community in County Clare that grew up around the ruins of Doonbeg Castle, which was built in the 16th century. The hamlet and surrounding area have an excellent selection of bars (many of which play traditional Irish music), and golfers may play Greg Norman's Doonbeg Golf Club Course at Doughmore, which is among the best in the world. Local walks showcase the area's natural beauty, or go horseback riding along the white sand beaches. Surfing is popular at Doughmore Strand and Spanish Point, while boat cruises to see dolphins are available in Kilrush and Carrigaholt.
