The bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs, which are always 28 degrees Celsius, originally drew the Romans to the town. The Palladian beauty of today's Buxton was constructed and developed during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, and includes the majestic semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House. Visitors can still enjoy these spectacular buildings and gardens, as well as the complete programme of the Opera House and annual music and arts events. There is excellent walking nearby, with rocky peaks to the north and pleasant hills and dales to the south, and a variety of charming towns and villages, such as Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale, are strewn throughout. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both of which are within easy driving distance, are must-sees for anybody visiting this area. A fantastic starting point for visiting the Peak District.
4 nights spent at the Netty 14th-18th Aug. My partner, I and the pup. The unit is compact but workable. There is everything you could possibly need cooking wise...and some. The en suite only has a curtain and no door so no privacy for your morning routine especially if someone else is still sleeping, also found it stored other peoples cosmetics. Had everything for cleaning apart from a sweping brush, mop and bucket which is essential given the area and expressed on arrival from ourselves. Main lounge area small but adequate, the windows really need some sort of blind/curtains instead of nets as once the lights are on when it goes dark you can see straight in, the front door had nothing at all. If you're looking for privacy seek elsewhere as basically you are in the back garden of the owners property, no-one wants to see someone in the main house drinking milk from the fridge after dark. Good space for parking. Bed against the wall which is not ideal and also under the window. Had some issues from the owners once we arrived home but sykes dropped the case so won't go into that unless necessary.
