Location Details

Grange-over-Sands, a picturesque Edwardian seaside resort in the Lake District, with one of northern England's mildest climates, sandwiched between the fells and Morecambe Bay. Originally a modest fishing community, Grange-over-Sands was converted into a fashionable Edwardian resort when the Furness Railway was built. Today, visitors may enjoy a traffic-free promenade, lovely ornamental gardens, golf courses, brass band performances, and outstanding birdwatching in the town. Lake Windermere (8 miles away), the charming villages of Bowness-on-Windermere and Hawkshead, and Cartmel, the birthplace of sticky toffee pudding and home to the L'Enclume restaurant, the UK's fourth-best restaurant, are all within easy driving distance. Grange over Sands is the starting point for the 25-mile Cistercian Way.
