Location Details
Loftus, on Yorkshire's east coast, is 14 miles from Whitby. Originally an alum mining community, it has terraced buildings, stone cottages, and big stone dwellings. The main street has shops, restaurants, pubs, banks, and a town hall. Behind the main street is a pool and leisure centre. Loftus lies near Runswick Bay and Staithes, a popular artist destination. Saltburn, 4 miles north, is an exquisite spa town with a golf club and lengthy pier. North Yorkshire Moors and Jurassic fossil coast are nearby.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Looked amazing on Sykes website unfortunately reality was a different matter. Dirty floors so we used our own vacuum as there isn’t one at the property only to find out just how dirty the floors were ! The plug got stuck in the bath whilst having a shower, we informed the “ housekeeper “, no response. Next morning I had another pull at the plug and pulled a foot long length of gunge and hair out with it ! Absolutely disgusting. TVs in every room but not all have been set up for use. Couldn’t find a welcome folder to get some answers from. It has a hot tub but no washing machine ?! So please take note if six of you are staying and you have children who may need some items washed, it’s not happening unless you look for a laundrette. Disappointing on the whole and we wouldn’t recommend it.
