We booked this cottage recently through Sykes Cottages and stayed here from 14/6/2024to20/6/2024 We left the cottage earlier than expected as my partner dropped her phone behind the bed, we pulled the bed out to retrieve the phone which revealed thick black mould behind the headboard. We contacted the property management company Coast and Country at 10am that morning the lady we spoke to said they would take a look after 5pm. We packed our belongings and left the property as they didn’t seem bothered. I have obstructive sleep Apnoea and use a resmed cpap machine I cannot take risk with mould spores in the air my partner is also Asthmatic. I am disgusted that none of the above mentioned seemed to be interested and the owner had said via the cleaner she would not compensate even though we left earlier, and she was on holiday. The bathroom had been re grouted and the walls were covered in white dust there was also a problem with cobwebs and spiders in every room.
Just returned from a trip to robin cottage. Just a few minutes stroll from the high street. Cottage well equipped and spacious. There was a significant amount of dust, cobwebs and spiders around, but not wanting to make a fuss we tried to overlook this. However on the morning of day 6 my phone fell down the back of the bed, back bedroom. We slid the bed out to retrieve it and to our horror, the wall behind the headboard was covered in thick black mould and thick dust. I rang the property Management company on the number that had been left and was told no one would come over until the end of the day. I rang Sykes cottages who told me to take pictures and send them over. We immediately packed up and left early as couldn’t stay here with mould spores in the property, especially given I have asthma and my partner has obstructive sleep apnoea. On arrival home and contacting Sykes again they said they had spoken to the owner who said we should have reported it sooner. How could we have known. No one cares, not the owner, not Sykes, not the property management company coast and country who looks after the cleaning and keys. Sykes were happy to take the booking and our money but fobbed us off saying it’s the owners responsibility, but they were not interested either. Disgusting. I want to advise others to avoid this property at all costs. We will book with Sykes
