The cottage had not been cleaned and after a four hour journey we had to thoroughly clean the accommodation and wash the bedding because the emergency number given to sort these kind of problems was not answered despite numerous calls and messages left. The next day the owner finally rang and organised the cleaner but did not feel the need to apologise until I asked him if he was going to! His response was that "to be fair" the people before had been very clean so it should not have been a problem for us. I do not think stains on the floor, left over foods/toiletries and no clean bedding and towels is "fair" when you have paid a good price for a holiday. I was then bombarded with voice messages to show how he was not at fault, until he then had to admit it was him who failed to arrange cleaning. I have attached just some of the photos but there was even more we had to clean up. Over two hours cleaning and having to coax our son into the property because he was not happy to be in the mess left by others and who can blame him. We understand that things can go wrong but it is vital that there is some sort of system in place to put those things right and there just wasn't anything other than a number for the owner who was not answering his phone all afternoon or evening.
