Location Details
The town of Launceston, situated on the Devon and Cornwall border, has wonderful architecture, including some fine Georgian buildings in the central square, and is dominated by the ruins of a Norman castle sitting high above the town. You can take a stroll to the Dog friendly Willow Tree Cafe and Woodland Walk or visit the steam train from Launceston through the beautiful Kensey Valley on a 5-mile round trip. Launceston is within driving distance of the seaside resorts of Bude and Padstow to the north, and Plymouth to the south, as well as the stunning Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. A superb base for exploring Cornwall and Devon.
Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Ashlea cottage is a home away from home -just nicer and better than our house. The place sleeps 8 with two doubles a room with bunk beds and then two singles which we put together to make another double. The location is great as you can reach everywhere in 20mins it’s so central to the area. Launceston is close for shops and food. However staying at the property was the real holiday for us. The gate can be closed over so the toddler and kids can run around or scooter. The property has a special kids Astro turf area with ball games and home made giant Jenga blocks that can be used for building as well. Then adjacent to that two hammocks. The fire pit is set away from the house in the corner next to the hot tub for late night family chattering while looking over farm lands and the morning sunrise from the jacuzzi was perfect in fact anytime in the hot tub was. The hosts have thought of everything and we needn’t have brought a lot of the things we thought we might need like toilet rolls or ice as the fridge has an ice maker. There is a separate Bbq area and everything required to cook on it. The property offer so many different environments that we had grandma watching the tennis on the TV on the comfy spinning sofa. The kids playing basketball grandpa in the jacuzzi while the bbq was hotting up for dinner. My pregnant wife could relax in the hammock without worrying about the toddler running loose. We are very happy with the offering and will be booking again for a get together with friends next summer
