The Apple Inn is in walking distance, serving up great food & ales. The Apple Core is also in walking distance, serving up fantastic pizzas & crepes. ACCOMMODATION OVER ONE LEVEL (Ground) All Open Plan Studio Accommodation: Living/kitchen/dining/bedroom area. Living area with electric fire, flat screen TV/DVD/CD player. Kitchen area with electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer. Bedroom area with double bed. Shower room with shower, WC and basin. OTHER FACILITIES Garden area with picnic bench and BBQ. We stayed three nights in this lovely, room. It was easy to find, just a few minutes from A1 with a dedicated parking space right outside. The complementary wine was a nice touch. We signed in to Netflix, watched a movie, put the fire effect on and settled in. We slept well in the very large, comfy bed. There was enough crockery and cooking bowls, utensil, pans etc to make a meal. It looked clean, other than the base of the shower door and hose. There were two things that irritated us. Firstly, the plumbing was very noisy in the bathroom. The water in the shower was hot and powerful but there a dreadful screeching noise all the time it was on. The tap on the sink was the same. The room next door must have had the same problem because their shower woke me up. Secondly, there wasn’t really anywhere to put the things we’d brought with us. There’s a small fridge, but no cupboard space for food storage, and no where to prepare food other than the table by the window. We only cooked on one evening, because it was so awkward. Our clothes bags were on the floor by the bed and wash bags on the bathroom floor. It all felt cluttered. A couple of luggage stands or chairs and a few shelves would have helped enormously. It’s perfectly sized for two, unless you bring anything with you! Aside from the plumbing, it was very peaceful and as a base to explore Bamburgh, Holy Island, Farne Islands etc the location is great. We didn’t use the spa facilities, so can’t comment on those. I wouldn’t stay again because of the points above, but other than that, it’s a lovely room.
