Lovely, clean cottage and central location to explore Northumberland. Much appreciated welcome pack too. When we first arrived, we were slightly disappointed with the position, because we had thought from the photos that we were just over the road from the beach. However, just across the road is private with no direct access to the beach. Disappointment didn't last long. There are lots of public footpaths all around, including the coastal path. The beach opposite is more mud flats really anyway where lots of wildlife can be seen but there's also quicksand. One day we drove towards Bamburgh and parked in a layby to then walk down to the beach of Budle Bay and walked along to Bamburgh. It's a quiet, wide, golden sandy beach. Another day we left on foot, picking up the coastal path by Budle Bay campsite, to avoid the worst of the main road. Just a short walk along the grass verge brought us to the beach. Fantastic holiday had by all. Can't recommend Northumberland enough. The beaches and scenery are definitely a challenge for Cornwall.
