The most well-liked inland resort in North Wales is Betws-y-Coed, also referred to as the "Gateway to Snowdonia." This area is a refuge for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts alike because it is surrounded by thick forest and stunning mountain landscapes. Cascading waterfalls, river pools, and historic bridges add to the area's splendour where the River Conwy joins its three tributaries coming from the west at Betws-y-Coed. The majestic Swallow Falls, which are located where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a breathtaking chasm, are the most well-known of all. The village is home to the Snowdonia National Park Visitor Center and is the beginning of the lovely Conwy Valley, which leads to the coast and the charming towns of Llandudno and Conwy. It also has shops, pubs, restaurants, a miniature railroad, a riverside golf course, and the Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
A delightful cottage in a peaceful location with views to the mountains. Excellent facilities provided by welcoming and friendly hosts. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the area as an excellent base.
We recently stayed in this single-storage cottage, a beautifully and tastefully converted Milking Shed, situated to the rear of a working farm but still perfectly private with its own patio complete with tables and chairs and a bird-feeder which attracted numerous and colourful birds to keep us entertained and with uninterrupted views to the mountains beyond - in our case still snow-covered at this time of year (Mid-March). It also came complete with a resident cat - a fluffy, cream-coloured ball of fluff who would call every day, meow-wing pitifully at the patio doors in the hope that we would let him into the cottage - no chance! This is a pet-free cottage and the owners asked us to discourage him from entry to keep it that way! We loved the 5-star quality offered throughout and clearly a lot of thought has gone into its conversion with no expense spared in the quality of all the fixtures and fittings. It offers sleeping for up to 4 people with one double and one twin bedroom (which also has it's own TV). It's location is nigh-on perfect for those loving peace, quiet and gorgeous views but it is a challenging 3/4 mile trip up a steep-ish single-track tarmac road. We were warmly welcomed by Michelle, the owner, who explained where everything was and how it operated. This cottage is on the outskirts of Betws-y-Coed which is about a mile away and gives access to the stunning Snowdonia National Park and it's many attractions - a paradise for anyone enjoying the outdoor life of walking, hiking, biking, etc., . The kitchen was fully equipped, including a dish-washer and washing machine and Michelle and Andy had kindly left a bottle of fresh local milk and some of their own free-range eggs as a welcome gift - both delightful! The central-heating was toasty and comfortable but I admit to being a bit of a pyromaniac so of course had to light the log-burner which gave a comforting ambience to the lounge in the evenings. An excellent supply of logs was included - and could be replenished upon request. The cottage is just over a mile from Betws-y-coed and, whilst it is possible to walk to the town, it is a steep-ish walk back. A perfect location for exploring all the many attractions in this area.
