Location Details

Penrith, the thriving market town and former capital of Cumbria, is perfectly situated between the Lake District, the Westmoorland Dales, and the North Pennines, making it an excellent base from which to explore the region. Penrith is known for its abundance of speciality shops, and its sandstone buildings conceal many charming cottages, gardens, and little shops in its many hidden yards, lanes, and alleyways. Penrith has a variety of great places to eat, stay, and be entertained, as well as a museum and Millennium Trails that wind through the city's historic district. Rheged, an avant-garde visitor centre, is conveniently located near the city. It features shops, restaurants, exhibitions, and a massive movie screen where visitors can watch documentaries and other educational films. The Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales are easily accessible, as is the historic city of Carlisle, and the nearby attractions of Brougham Castle, Brougham Hall (The Windsor of the North), Lowther Castle and Gardens, Long Meg and her daughters (the third largest stone circle in England).

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Reviews

Unfortunately we booked the log cabin for this property BIG mistake. The property is not the easiest to find but halfway up a hill you will see a small off road track only suitable for 4x4. At the end of the road the cabin is situated in a corner of the garden under a tree so very dark to begin with. Here is what you don't get told!! As the property is in the corner of the garden it is situated directly next to residential property wall, the house next door is about 50yards away. When you get in there is a large book of rules!! No music after 9pm in the hot tub, no hot tub after 10pm. There is supposedly devices that check for noise (very weird). There is an amazon device in the house this should be removed as can be used for spying either audio or video as it was camera enabled. None this was not mentioned in the listing if this was listed we would not have booked it. Payed for 4 nights only stayed 3. Remember you are on holiday and the properties around you are not. This is not a holiday destination if you are looking for a private cabin with hot tub that you can take your dogs with you look elsewhere. Not cleaned properly had to wipe down the surfaces when we got there. Windows filthy and bird poo on them. Sockets will come out the wall when trying to remove plugs, Very noisy bathroom fan (needs replaced) toilet seat loose and coming off. Very slippery decking area Also told it is dog friendly ITS NOT when we arrived home a few days later we got a bill for £160 to clean bedding and towels due to paw prints If you like staying in a dark depressing hut in the corner of a garden directly next to peoples homes and paying £200 night plus £150 for laundry this is for you. Hopefully this information will save some people money and disappointment in the future. I wouldn't like for someone else to save up 1 year to be let down

Ideal location. This Villa is ideally situated at the end of a long windy drive, you almost feel as if you are in the country. However Penrith is in easy walking distance and access to numerous pubs, restaurants and shops. A lovely large house suitable for family get togethers with the option to have use of a lodge which sleeps another 4 people and in close proximity to the main house. The house caters for all your needs and has lots of modern technology around including usb sockets in some bedside tables etc. The kitchen is fully equiped with the usual white goods including two dishwashers and lots of equipment to make life easy if you decide to eat in. There is a small games room and some board games. The outside has large garden with hot tub. There are 2 BBq's with plenty of outdoor furniture to accommodate all guests. The owners are extremely helpful and easily contactable if needed. They made contact with us on our arrival day with directions and to ensure we had no problems accessing the property.
