The market town of Blandford Forum, England, sits on the banks of the Stour River. Almost all of the town, which had been destroyed by a fire in 1731, was rebuilt in the 18th century, at which time it became known for its Georgian architecture. Local architects John and William Bastard were commissioned by King George II to design the new town square. Every year during the first week of May, Blandford hosts the Georgian Fayre, a festival honouring the town's Georgian past with displays, reenactments, live performances, and more. During the late Bank Holiday weekend, the town hosts the Great Dorset Steam Fair, one of the most popular annual events. Featuring over 2,000 exhibits and a vintage steam funfair, this festival is awash in colour. Features a variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, cafes, and even a Georgian tearoom. There's a lot to see in this charming town, so it's great for tourists year-round.
