Location Details

Abergavenny, known as the "Gateway to Wales," is a charming market town situated in a valley between seven mountains and crossed by the River Usk. There are numerous restaurants and bars in the area, as well as a castle and museum, churches, a covered market, excellent stores, and a wide variety of shops in this thriving town. Close by are the stunning Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, as well as the Wye Valley and Vale of Usk, both of which are ideal for scenic treks. Every day of your stay will be filled with new adventures, thanks to the abundance of abbeys, castles, mining museums, and a Roman amphitheatre and baths at nearby Caerleon.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

Reviews

The grounds on arrival look lovely, but the lanes from the A40 are very narrow the width of a van and little passing places if any. We kept meeting a lot of vans/cars, and had to keep reversing, it got to be a right pain. No information about the electric gates, we had to phone the owner on how to get in/out of them when the cafe was shut all week. The bedroom I found noisy with the gushing brook, it sounded like a downpour all night, so I ended up on the uncomfortable sofa most nights. Using the microwave was difficult despite moving the tv, I still kept banging my head on it. Adequate kitchen utensils and crockery, toilet rolls and hand-wash supplied but just about enough washing liquid. The front door lock was worn, we had to pull the front door whilst unlocking it. Carpark is big but tight to drive in around the shop. A lot of farm vehicles/vans drive in and out daily in front of the cottage up to the business at the back. We were kept awake by the adjoining couple drinking and arguing at the tables gone midnight. Your free to use the cafe veranda and grounds. We left a night earlier, as we had, had enough basically.
